Duke and Pretty’s Chili
Growing up in Pawhuska, we ate many meals at Jo’s Dairyland. One of my favorite meals was a Frito chili pie. I can still see Jo pulling a bag of Fritos off the display and cut it open. She would spoon in some chili, squirt of mustard and ketchup, shredded cheese and onion. Stick a plastic spoon in it and put a toothpick through the side of the bag she had cut. Such fun memory! I still serve this to my family today. Here's how...
Ingredients:
2 1/2 lbs of ground turkey
1 medium onion
2 Tbsp of minced garlic
2 1/2 Tbsp chili powder
1 can Rotel
2 1/2 tsp of Smoked paprika
2 tsp Cumin
32 oz tomato juice
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Brown turkey in Dutch oven with onion. Once meat is browned, add all of the other ingredients. Allow to cook for 25 minutes. Serve with fun toppings like onions, cheese, mustard, ketchup, Fritos, cornbread, or whatever you love with this bowl of yummy!
Always party in the kitchen,
Chrissie
